Ryan White Program
Overview of the Ryan White Program at Minority Health Consortium (MHC)
The Ryan White Program at the Minority Health Consortium (MHC) is a vital support system for individuals living with HIV/AIDS across Central Virginia. Funded under the federal Ryan White HIV Program, MHC provides compassionate, comprehensive, and culturally responsive services to underserved and minority populations most impacted by the epidemic.
Our program is designed to reduce barriers to care and improve health outcomes for people living with HIV. We focus on delivering high-quality non-medical case management and referrals to supportive services that address the complex social and economic factors affecting our clients’ well-being.

Ryan White Services
Client-Centered Approach

At the heart of MHC’s Ryan White Program is a commitment to equity, dignity, and respect. Services are provided in a safe, welcoming environment with a strong emphasis on confidentiality, cultural competence, and trauma-informed care. Our staff understands the unique challenges faced by Black, Brown, LGBTQ+, and low-income communities and is passionate about creating lasting change in the lives of those we serve.

Through collaboration with local agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners, the Minority Health Consortium continues to be a trusted advocate and service provider for those affected by HIV. Together, we work to eliminate health disparities and empower individuals to live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Non-Medical Case Management
MHC’s Non-Medical Case Management team is here to guide and support clients through every step of their care journey. Our dedicated case managers assist with completing the Unified Eligibility Assessment (UEA) for Virginia’s Ryan White Part B Program, identifying each client’s unique needs, and connecting them to vital services. These include access to HIV medical care, medications, insurance assistance, and a range of supportive services—as long as resources are available. We are committed to helping clients navigate care with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Psychosocial Support
MHC offers a range of psychosocial support services designed to empower people living with HIV. Through support groups, educational sessions, and community-centered events, we help foster connection, reduce stigma, and promote emotional well-being. Our goal is to create safe, affirming spaces where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered on their journey.
